​Keepers of the Culture

Keepers of the Culture is a celebration of Black Heritage and the individuals who have dedicated themselves to making sure African American culture continues to have a meaningful presence in San Diego. The San Diego African American Museum of Fine Art (SDAAMFA) in collaboration with the San Diego History Center are hosting the reception which will give San Diego an opportunity to say “thank you” to the three honorees.

The distinguished honorees include:

• Alyce Smith Cooper, Ancestral Storyteller

• Nathan east, Bassist, Vocalist and founding member of the contemporary jazz group Fourplay

• Calvin Manson, Director, Producer, Playwright and Visual Artist

• Andrea Rushing, Visual Artist and Founder of the Andrea Rushing Academy of Fine Art
